How to troubleshoot Palfinger ILP 33 liftgate that will not power on?

  If your Palfinger Lifting Systems liftgate won't power on, here are a few things to inspect: First, make sure the ON/OFF switch inside the vehicle's cab (for trucks) or on the dock bumper strut (for trailers) is turned ON. Check the circuit breaker at the main batteries and the fuse(s) at the hydraulic power unit. Also, inspect the batteries and the truck/trailer charging system, and consider starting the truck and running the engine at a fast idle to charge the batteries. Verify the ground connection on the hydraulic power unit and check the oil level in the hydraulic power unit. Finally, look for any mechanical or electrical damage, such as damaged cables.

  If your Palfinger Lifting Systems liftgate isn't lowering down, begin by visually inspecting the valves at the cylinders for any mechanical damage, such as bent or broken valves. Next, check the toggle switch harness and the gray 3-wire harness for any signs of damage. Also, inspect both release valve wires for any damage. You can also try unscrewing the plugs of the valves, sticking a voltmeter into the plugs, and activating the down function. As another step, remove the plastic cap of the release valves, keep the coil in place, hold a screwdriver close to the steel valve stem while pressing the down function on the toggle switch.

  If your Palfinger Lifting Systems liftgate isn't lifting up, start by visually checking the valves at the cylinders for any mechanical damage, such as bent or broken valves. Check the toggle switch harness and the gray wire harness to the switch for damaged spots. Verify the motor solenoid is functioning correctly and listen for a clicking sound. Also, check for power on the large positive motor stud. If the gate is still not working, it is advised to take the truck/trailer and gate to an authorized repair station.
