SHUTTER AF 3
This command allows the camera to automatically focus when the
shutter-release button is pressed halfway.
OFF
Disables automatic focusing when the shutter-release button is pressed
halfway.
ON
Enables automatic focusing when the shutter-release button is pressed
halfway.
AF ASSIST LAMP 3
The AF Assist lamp is a built-in camera light, which illuminates the sub-
ject when the ambient lighting is too low for automatic focus to establish
focus.
The function is set to [OFF] for Scenery Mode, Night Scenery, and Sunset
in Scene Mode.
Note: The lamp is valid only for the subject in the center of the display
screen. Disable this function when the sudden onset of a red beam will
disturb the subject. The beam is rendered useless if it is blocked by a lens
hood or by the position of your hand while you’re holding the camera.
OFF Disables the AF Assist Lamp function.
ON Enables the AF Assist Lamp function.
AF+MF 3
This command allows you to manually adjust the focus after it has already
been automatically focused.
OFF Disables the AF+MF function.
ON Enables the AF+MF function.
MF ASSIST 3
This command enables the screen magnification to be increased during
manual focus.
Magnification occurs when rotating the focus ring, touching the screen,
or using the Q.MENU button and determining the area to enlarge.
OFF Disables the MF Assist function.
ON Enables the MF Assist function.
MF GUIDE 3
This command is operational in Manual Focus. It displays a focus scale
that allows you to determine if you are focusing to a point in front of or
behind the image.
OFF Disables the MF Guide function.
ON Enables the MF Guide function.
PREVIEW HOLD 4
This function controls how the Preview operation works when the Pre-
view button is pressed.
Note: The Preview button allows you to view the depth of field.
OFF
The preview screen is displayed when the Preview button is pressed, and
it is closed when the Preview button is released.
ON
The preview screen is displayed when the Preview button is pressed, and
it is closed when the Preview button is pressed again.
CONSTANT PRE-
VIEW
4
This command allows you to confirm the effects of aperture and shutter
speed on the screen prior to recording the picture. The flash unit should
be closed when the function is enabled.
This command is active in Manual Exposure (M) Mode only.
OFF Disables the Constant Preview function.
ON Enables the Constant Preview function.
EXPO.METER 4
This command controls whether the Exposure Meter is displayed when
the mode dial is switched to P, A, S, or M Modes.
Note: The Exposure Meter disappears after four seconds if no operation is
performed.
OFF Disables the Exposure Meter function.
ON Enables the Exposure Meter function.
EXPO. SETTINGS 4
This command changes the method of Exposure Compensation when
the camera’s mode dial is set to P, A, S, or M Mode. You can change the
exposure by using the rear dial to switch from Exposure Compensation
to Program Shift (P Mode), aperture setting (A Mode), and shutter speed
setting (S and M Modes). You can also use the LVF/LCD button to switch
between the choices.
SWITCH BY PRESS-
ING THE REAR DIAL
Enables the Exposure Compensation changes by pressing the rear dial.
SWITCH BY PRESS-
ING THE LVF/LCD
BUTTON
Enables the Exposure Compensation changes by pressing the LVF/LCD
button. When selected, you are unable to switch between the LCD screen
and viewfinder using this button.
