4. Reinstall the filter element in the cup. Make sure the O-ring is in position in the cup. Firmly screw the
cup onto the filter housing.
5. Attach the filter assembly to the bracket so that the fuel hoses are attached to the filter assembly.
Run the engine and check the filter and lines for leaks.
3.4 Inspecting idling speed
A diagnostic tachometer should be used for this procedure. Results may vary depending on whether
testing is conducted with the flushing attachment, in a test water tank, or with the outboard motor in the
water.
1. Start the engine and allow it to warm up fully in neutral until it is running smoothly.
2. Verify whether the idle speed is set to specification.
Carburetor engine idle speed900±50rpm; EFI engine idle speed: 800±50rpm
CAUTION:
Correct idling speed inspection is only possible if the engine is fully warmed up. If not warmed
up fully, the idle speed will measure higher than normal. If you have difficulty verifying the idle
speed, or the idle speed requires adjustment, consult your dealer or other qualified mechanic.
