8. Operating principle
The cable detector consists of a transmitter and a receiver. The signal generated by the transmitter
modulates a current signal that creates an electromagnetic field around a connected conductor.
This electromagnetic field is detected through a inducted voltage in the receiver coils integrated to
the receiver. Three integrated receiver coils are used in automatic and manual mode, so the
position of the receiver during the measurement is negligible. A position-dependant search can be
performed in selective mode with only one active receiver coil.
9. Application
Single pole application (open circuit):
Trough the signal generated by the transmitter the cable detector allows tracking even in broken /
open circuits. This allows the search of line breaks, tapers, bends and the tracking of metallic
conductors. The connection is made via the red terminal to a conductor and the connection of the
reference potential via the black terminal to a known ground (PE safety-grounded piping, etc.).
The receiver depth is a maximum of 2 meters, depending on the material and application.
