FIRST REGULATOR INSTALLATION
The voltage regulator GRTD-TH3 must be handled by a properly trained technician. Before starting
the connection make sure that the regulator is suitable for use with the generator by checking the
characteristic label. Also check the existing protections.
CONNECTION STEPS
1. Connect the regulator to the generator according to the description of the terminals shown this
manual and the type of de generator to be used.
2. Disconnect all loads from the generator. The Vad potentiometer corresponding to the voltage
setting must be set to the minimum voltage to avoid over-excitation of the generator if the
connection is incorrect.
3. The potentiometer Stb corresponding to the stability adjustment must be set half way.
4. If the regulator works in parallel mode (TC connected), set the Drp potentiometer fully
counterclockwise to disable the reagent compensation
5. Switch on the ignition key. There will be an initial priming and will enter the control, gradually
adjusting the Vad trimpot clockwise, until the desired tension is reached
6. If the tension is varying, signal of instability, gradually adjust the trimpot Stb counterclockwise
until there is no more oscillation.
7. If you have an actuated protection check the references of this protection in the manual and
check if they meet the generator specification. If they are below generator specifications, another
model that meets these specifications should be used.
NOTE: When the regulator is powered without any sensing voltage measurement, the regulator
will not excite the regulator, accusing the Lack Phase limiter.
SHUTDOWN
With the U / F limiter correctly configured, the generator is shut down when the engine is switched
off. The voltage will gradually decrease as the frequency protects the generator.
