Operation
7.3.3 Extended Device Status
The extended device status can be retrieved using command 48. The command provides
5 byte of information which are arranged thematically:
First Byte
The operation is currently in progress
The byte indicates which operation is currently running. The information is coded bit by bit.
The coding is shown in the following table:
Second Byte
Hardware fault
The byte indicates which operation is currently running. The information is coded bit by bit. The
coding is shown in the following table:
Bit Operation in progress Meaning
7 Reset Switch-on operation is running and must be
completed.
6 Rebuild Rebuild operation is running and must be
completed.
5 Internal EEPROM write
operation
Switching off the power supply may result in the
loss of parameterization.
4 Scan Scanning process is running and must be
completed.
3 Self-test (command 41) Performs the device self-test, such as when
switching on the supply voltage. If no fault occurs,
the status message Malfunction is deleted if
the message has been set.
2to0 Reserved Reserved.
Table 7.6
Bit Detected hardware fault Meaning/remedial action
7 Signal loop OR link of all detected hardware faults in the
signal loops. Check the field devices and their
cabling, then run Scan loops, see chapter 7.2.1.
6 ROM fault Send the device to Pepperl+Fuchs for repair.
5 EEPROM fault Send the device to Pepperl+Fuchs for repair.
4to0 Reserved Reserved.
