Troubleshooting Section
System Response:
If equipped, the diagnostic light will come on. This
code will not be logged.
Possible Performance Effect:
The pressure
in the fuel rail may be unstable and the
engine may not run smoothly.
Troublesho
oting:
Check the timing of the fuel rail pump. Refer to
Disassembl
y and Assembly, “Fuel Injection Pump
-Install”.
Results:
•
OK – STOP.

ons Which G enerate This Code:
The Electronic Control Module (ECM) detects the
followi
ng conditions:
•
The 5 Volt supply is greater than 5.16 Volts DC for
more th
an one second.
•
The ECM has been powered for at least three
second
s.
•
Diagnostic code 0168-01 is not active.
System Response:
The EC
M sets all of the pressure sensors and
temperature sensors to the default values.
Poss
ible P er formance Effect:
The engine will be derated.
Troubleshooting:
Thi
s diagnostic code will detect an excessively high
voltage in the 5 Volt supply circuit.
Per
form the following diagnostic procedure: “5 Volt
Sensor Supply Circuit - Test”
Re
sults:
•
OK – STOP.

Conditions Which Gen erate This Code:
The Engine Control Module (ECM) detects the
following conditions:
•
The 5 Volt supply is less than 4.84 Volts DC for
more than one second.
•
The ECM has been powered for at least three
seconds.
•
Diagnostic code 0168-01 is not active.
System Res
ponse:
The ECM sets all of the pressure sensors and
temperat
ure sensors to the default values.
Possible Pe rformance Effect:
Theenginewillbederated.
Trouble
shooting:
This diagnostic code will detect an excessively low
voltage
in the 5 Volt supply circuit.
Perform the following diagnostic procedure: “5 Volt
Sensor
Supply Circuit - Test”
Results:

OK – STOP.
