Troubleshooting:
This diagnostic code will detect a mechanical
problem in the intake air system. The electronic part
of the control
system will be operating correctly.
Perform the following diagnostic procedure: “Systems
Operation, T
esting and Adjusting, “Turbocharger -
Inspect””
Results:
•
OK – STOP.

Condition
s Which Generate This Code:
The Electronic Control Module (ECM) detects the
followin
g conditions:
•
The signal voltage from the exhaust gas
tempera
ture sensor is greater than 4.95 VDC for
more than 8 seconds.
•
The ECM h
as been powered for at least 2 seconds.
•
Diagnostic code 0168-01 is not active.
System Response:
If equi
pped, the diagnostic light will come on. The
ECM will log the diagnostic code.
“Volt
age High” will be displayed next to the status for
“Exhaust Gas Temperature” on the electronic service
tool.
Possible Performance Effect:
•
Ther
e are no performance effects.
Troubleshooting:
This fault can be caused by an open circuit or a short
to a power source.
Perform the following diagnostic procedure: “Engine
Temperature Sensor Open or Short Circuit - Test”
Results:
•
OK

Conditions Which Gen erate This Code:
The Electronic Control Module (ECM) detects the
following conditions:
•
The signal voltage from the exhaust gas
temperature sensor is less than 0.2 VDC for more
than 8 secon
ds.
•
The ECM has been powered for at least 2 seconds.

e Performance Effect:
•
There are no performance effects.
Troubleshooting:
This fa
ult can be caused by a sensor that is shorted
to ground or a sensor that is internally shorted.

Con
ditions Which Gen erate This Code:
The frequency or the duty cycle of the signal from the
sec
ondary throttle input is incorrect.
System Response:
The Electronic Control Module (ECM) will log the
diagnostic code. The ECM flags the throttle position
as
invalid data and a default value is used.
