14.Note the alignment dowels

in the chaincase.
15.Inspect the cover gasket for damage. Inspect the
bearing and seal in the cover. Replace bearing if it no
longer rolls smoothly. Replace the seal if damaged.
16.Remove the lower gear fastener

Note the beveled washer orientation.
17.Loosen the chain adjuster jam nut

and bolt

18.Remove the spacer

on the jackshaft.
19.Remove the upper sprocket

, chain

, and lower
sprocket

as an assembly.
20.Inspect the sprockets for wear and replace as
required. Inspect the chain for frozen links and
damage. Replace as required.
21.Clean the inside of the chaincase housing.
