The insulator tip is black. A damp oil film covers the firing end. There may be a carbon
layer o ver the entire nose. Generally, the electrodes are not worn. General causes
are excessive oil, use of non-recommended injection oil, improper use of the choke,
or incorrect carburetion adjustments.
Spark Plug Removal and Replacement
The spark plug is removed by using the special wrench p rovided in the tool pouch.
Remove the spark plug cap and then the spark plug by rotating counterclockwise.
Reverse the procedure for spark plug installation. Torque to 17 ft. lbs.
Never deviate from the recommended spark p lug as engine damage can occur.
Never attempt to remove a spark plug while the engine is warm. The exhaust
system or engine could burn you causing severe injury.
