DRIVE SPROCKET REMOVAL / INSPECTION
1. Using the special socket (PN 2871293), remove the
crankshaft slotted nut (A). NOTE: The slotted nut is a
left hand thread.
2. Remove cam chain drive sprocket (B) and Woodruff
key from crankshaft.
3. Inspect sprocket teeth for wear or damage.
4. Inspect Woodruff key for wear.
5. Replace any worn or damaged parts.
PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE
The pressure relief valve opens to relieve any excess
pressure from the oil pump if oil pressure reaches approxi-
mately 71 psi. It must be clean and have adequate spring
pressure in order to seal properly.
1. Remove cap bolt, sealing washer, spring, and relief
valve f rom MAG side crankcase.
2. Inspect free length of spring and check coils for
distortion.
3. Inspect valve for wear.
4. Check seat area for nicks or foreign material that may
prevent proper sealing of valve.
