GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS
The warranty on this unit does not cover
items that have been subjected to oper-
ator abuse or negligence. To receive full
value from the warranty, the operator
must maintain unit as instructed in this
manual. Various adjustments will need
to be made periodically to properly
maintain your unit. Improper mainte-
nance may cause damage to the unit
and possible injury to the operator or by-
standers.
CHECK FOR DAMAGED OR
WORN PARTS
Contact an authori zed service dealer for
replacement of worn or damaged parts.
NOTE: It is normal for a small amount of
oil to appear under the saw after motor
stops. Do not confuse this with a leaking
oil tank.
S Tri gger Swi tch -- Ensure the trigger
swit ch functi ons proper ly by squeezing
and holding the tri gger switch. Make
sure motor starts and stops.
S Oil Tank -- Discontinu e use of chain saw
if oil tank shows signs of damage or
lea ks.
S Extension Cord -- Discontinue use if
chai n saw exte nsion cord shows signs
of damage or wear.

CHECK CHA IN TENSION
WARNING: Wear protective
gloves when handling chain. The c hain
issharpandcancutyouevenwhenitis
not moving.
Chain tension is very import ant . Chai n
stretches during use. This is especially
tr ue during the fir st few ti mes you use your
saw. Always check chain tensi on each
time you use your saw.
1. Unplug unit from the power source.
2. Use a screwdriver to move chain
around guide bar to ensure kinks do
not exist. The chain should rotate
freely .
NOTE: It is recommended that the saw
be turned upside down for chain
tensioni ng.
3. Loosen bar clamp nuts until they are
finger tight against the bar clamp.
4. Turn the adjusting screw clockwise
until the chain solidly contacts bott om
of guide bar r ail. The n, tur n adjustin g
screw an additional 1/4 turn. This is
cor rect chain te nsi o n setting.
Adjusting Screw -- 1/4 Turn
NOTE: To ti ghten the chain, tur n the ad-
justin g screw clockwi se ; t o loo sen the
chain, tur n the adjusting screw counter-
clockwise.
