S Keep the handles dry and clean and
fr ee fr om oil and grease.
S Keep oil cap and fast eners securely
tightened.
S Nonconfor mi ng replacement compo-
nents or the removal of safety devices
may cause damage to the unit and pos-
sible injur y to the operat or or bystand-
er s. Use only Poulan PRO accessori es
and repl acement part s as recom-
mended. Never modif y your saw .
S Maintain chain saw with care.
S Keep unit sharp and clean for bett er and
saf er per form a nce.
S Follow instructions for lubricating and
changing accessories.
S Unplug t he chain saw from the power
source when not in use, befor e servic-
ing, and when changing accessories
and att achments, such as saw chain
and guard.
S Check for damaged parts. Before fur-
ther use of the chain saw, a guard or
other part that is damaged should be
carefully checked to determine that it will
operate pr operl y and perfor m its in-
tended function. Check for alignment of
moving part s, binding of moving part s,
br eaka ge of parts, mounting and any
other conditi ons that may aff ect its op-

ELECTRICAL SAF ETY
WARNING: Avoid a dangerous
environment. To reduce the risk of elec-
trical shock, do not use in rain, in damp
or wet locations, or around swimming
pools, hot tubs, etc. Do not expose to
snow, rain, or water to avoid the possibil-
ity of electrical s hock. Do not handle ex-
tension cord or plug with wet hand s.
S Use a voltage supply as shown on the
nameplate of the unit .
S Avoid dangerou s si t u ati ons. Do not use
in the presence of flammable liquids or
gases to avoid creating a fire or explo-
sio n and/or causi ng damage to unit.
S To r educe the risk of electri cal shock,
this appliance has a polar i zed plug (one
blade is wider than the other) and wil l re-
quir e the use of a polari zed extension
cord. The appliance plug will fit into a po-
lari zed extension cord only one way. If
the plug does not fit ful l y into the exten-
sion cord , rever se the plug. If the plug
stil l does not fit , obtai n a correct polar-
ized extension cord. A polar i zed exten-
sion cor d will requir e t he use of a polar-
ized wall outlet. This plug will fit into the
polari zed wall outlet only one way. If
plug does not fit fully into the wall outlet,
reverse the plug. If the plug still does not
fit, contact a qualified electrician to install
the proper wall outlet . Do not change the
equipment plug, extension cord recep-
tacle, or extension cord plug in any way.
S To reduce risk of electr i cal shock, use
extension cords specifical l y marked as
suitabl e for outdoor appliances. The
electr i cal rating of the cord must not be
less than the rating of unit. The cord
must be mar ked wit h suf fi x “W--A” (in
Canada, “W”). Use a po larized cord.
Make sure your extension cord i s in
good condit i on . Inspect exten sion cor d
before use and replace if damaged. Do
not use a damaged cord. Cord insula-
tion must be intact with no cracks or de-
teri or at i on. Plug connectors must be
undamaged. An undersized extension
cord will cause a drop in line voltage re-
sulti ng in loss of power and overheat ing.
If in doubt, use the next heavier gauge.
The lower the gauge number, the heavi-
er the cord ( see
SELECT AN EXTENSION
CORD
in the OPERA TION section) . Do
not use multiple cords.
S Do not abuse cord. Never carry the unit
by th e extensi o n cord or yank extens i o n
cord to disco nn ect unit.
S Secure extension cord to power cord to
prevent disconnection from unit.
S Do not use the unit if the switch does not
tur n the unit on and of f properly, or if the
lockout does not work. Repairs to the
swit ch must be made by an authorized
serv i c e dealer.
S Keep extension cord clear of operator
and obstacl es at all tim es. Posit ion cord
so that it wil l not be caught on br an ches.
Do not expose cords to heat, oil , water,
or sharp edges.
S To avoid the possibility of electric shock,
avoi d body contact wi th any grounde d
conductor, such as metal fences or
pipes.
S Ground Fault Circui t Int er r upter (GFCI)
prot ecti on should be provided on cir cui t
or outl et to be used. Rece ptacl es ar e
available having built-in GFCI protection
and may be used f or thi s measure of
safety. Inspect chain saw cords peri odi-
cally and if damaged, have repair ed by
an authorized service dealer.
