6 OPERATION
6.2 OPERATOR PRESENCE AND SAFETY INTERLOCK SYSTEM _________________
1. The Operator Presence And Safety Interlock System will not allow the engine to start unless the neutral
latch is released. The traction pedal and the cutter unit must be turned off. The system stops the engine
if the operator leaves the seat with the cutter equipment engaged or the neutral latch engaged.
2. Do each of the tests as shown below, to make sure that the Operator Presence And Safety Interlock
Systems operates correctly. If any of the tests fail, stop the test and have the system inspected and
repaired.
• The engine will start in test 1;
• The engine does start during tests 2 to 5.
• The engine continues to run during test 6.
3. Refer to the chart below for each test and follow the check () sign across the chart. The
indicates a
negative action. Turn off the engine between each test.
Test 1: Shows the normal start procedure. The operator must be in the driver seat and the traction pedal
neutral latch must be in the neutral position. The operators feet must be away from the pedals, with the
mower engagement device turned off and the park brake switch on. The engine must start correctly.
Test 2: The engine must not start if the mower engagement device is turned on.
Test 3: The engine must not start if the neutral latch (traction pedal) is pressed.
Test 4: The engine must not start if the park brake is off.
Test 5: The engine will not start if the operator is not in the seat.
Test 6: Start the engine with the normal procedure, then turn mower engagement device on and move your
weight from the seat.
WARNING
Do Not Operate The Equipment With The Operator Presence And Safety Interlock System Disengaged
Or When The Equipment Has Defects. Do Not Disconnect Or Bypass Any Switch.
