Routinecallsaremadeonchannel70usingthededicatedMaritimeMobileServiceIdentity(MMSI)
numberofthestationtobecontacted,selectingaVHFworkingchannelandsendingthecall.Both
radiosautomaticallyswitchtothechosenchannelforconversation.
Routinecallscanalsobemadetogroups—Whengroupsofshipsneedthesameinformation(yacht
races,clubralliesetc.)aspecialgroup-callidentitycanbeusedtoenablerestrictedbroadcastcalls.
