5 Switching off the Gyro Compass
The gyro compass ceases to operate when its power supply (ship’s mains, AC/DC
converter) is switched off.
Caution!
• Maintenance and repair work should be carried out only
by trained and qualified staff who are well versed in
national safety regulations.
• After the gyro compass has been switched off it i s
necessary to wait at least 15 minutes before accessing
the interior of the gyro compass.
Otherwise the gyro system could be
damaged!
