Unlike the iower bands, frequencies in the 800 MHz band are
not allocated by the FCC to specific services. In each area, the
channels are licensed on a first-come, first-served basis. There
are two categories for licensing: Public Safety and Industrial.
Systems using one to five channels are conventional. Five-
channel systems might use trunked service, but all systems
with more than five channels must use trunked service.
