END-OF-LINE TERMINATION
On all EIA-485 networks, it is necessary to add End Of Line (EOL) terminators to prevent
reflected noise returning into the network. The EOL terminators must be installed on the
controllers at the extremities of the network.
To terminate the MACH-Pro(Web)Com controller, set the two-position EOL switches as
shown in Figure 50.
EOL DIP switches are not provided on MACH-ProPoint expansion modules. If the AUX-Net
port on a MACH-Pro(Web)Com is configured as I/O-Net, the associated DIP switches must
be IN, and each MACH-ProPoint expansion module self-terminates as it is added.
If the network is not terminated properly, the MACH-Pro(Web)Com controller may fail to
network. Each EIA network should have only two controllers with the EOL switches set to
the IN position. If a third party device is located at the extremity of a network, an NA-EOL
should be installed at the device to properly terminate the network.
Glowing network bulbs indicate a problem which could be: the Class 2 power is crossed
(24 VAC & GND) between two controllers, or the ground potential between two controllers is
not the same.
