When multiple relays are connected to the RS485 port of the U-router NGW, and they are set to
communicate using the RFI Internet Of Things (RIOT) protocol you can retrieve the status of all
connected relays. For example:
rfi@rfi-000102:~$ ngw-client relay
+---------------------------------------------------------------------+
| RELAYS |
+---------------------------------------------------------------------+
id : 0
description : U-router NGW internal relay
relayState : ON
rpswState : RPSW Disconnected
+---------------------------------------------------------------------+
id : fa0004
rpswState : RS485 Remote Power Switch - Single Port [0.04]
description : Reboot customer modem
relayState : ON
+---------------------------------------------------------------------+
id : fa0002
rpswState : RS485 Remote Power Switch - Single Port [0.04]
description : Power to Ethernet Switch #02
relayState : OFF
You can operate each relay independently by specifying the id on the command. For example, if
we want to switch the relay connected to the ‘customer modem’, that is relay with id: fa0004, off
you would give command:
rfi@rfi-000102:~$ ngw-client relay fa0004 off
+---------------------------------------------------------------------+
| RELAYS |
+---------------------------------------------------------------------+
id : fa0004
rpswState : RS485 Remote Power Switch - Single Port [0.04]
description : Reboot customer modem
relayState : OFF
Please note: There is a difference in the data returned from the internal relay and the additional
RS485 relays. The internal relay also includes the state of the attached Remote Power Switch in the
rpswState element. This is because the Remote Power Switch could be of the inverse type, meaning
when the internal relay is on the Remote Power Switch is off. For the attached RS485 relays,
relayState always reflects the state of the external unit.
