Bit 1 0 Modes
00MH only
01MH/MR
1 0 MH/MR/MMR
11Not used
These bits determine the compression capabilities
to be declared in phase B (handshaking) of the T.30
protocol.
2, 3 Compression modes

Bit 3 2 Modes
00MH only
01MH/MR
1 0 MH/MR/MMR
11Not used
These bits determine the compression capabilities
to be used in the transmission and to be declared in
phase B (handshaking) of the T.30 protocol.

Communication Switch 01
No. FUNCTION COMMENTS
0 ECM
0: Off 1: On
If this bit is set to 0, ECM is switched off for all
communications.
1 Not used Do not change the setting.

Bit 3 Bit 2 Setting
00None
0 1 8 digit CSI
1 0 4 digit CSI
1 1 CSI/RTI
(0,1) - The machine will disconnect the line without
sending a fax message if the last 8 digits of the
received CSI do not match the last 8 digits of the
dialed telephone number. This does not work when
manually dialed.
(1,0) - The same as above, except that only the last
4 digits are compared.
(1,1) - The machine will disconnect the line without
sending a fax message, if the other end does not
identify itself with an RTI or CSI.
(0,0) - Nothing is checked; transmission will always
go ahead.
Note: This function does not work when dialing is
done from the external telephone.
4 Operator call if no response is
received in reply to NSF/DIS
0: Disabled 1: Enabled
Set this bit to 1 if the user expects to receive
telephone calls at the same number that the
machine is connected to. The machine will then alert
the user if a phone call comes in.
5 Not used Do not change the setting.

The setting determined by these bits is informed to
the transmitting terminal in the pre-message
protocol exchange (in the DIS/NSF frames).
