Preparation
Non-Standard Levelers
• Auto Retracting Toeguards (competitive models):
The PitMaster II cannot be applied to units with auto
retracting toeguards. Consult Rite-Hite Applications.
• Cantilever Docks and Self Standing Frames:
You must consult Rite-Hite Applications before
proceeding to make sure your application is adaptable.
The PitMaster II can be adapted to some cantilever
docks and self standing frame applications.
Standard Under-leveler Seal
Instructions show how to install a PitMaster II Under-
Leveler Seal on a Rite-Hite model leveler. Most of the
instructions are applicable for all situations/models with
minor adjustments unless otherwise noted.
1. Review the site information and survey.
2. Verify all components were received and made
to the correct specifications. Notify your Rite-Hite
Representative if parts are missing or damaged.
3. Before installing the under-leveler seal you must:
• Make sure the leveler is working correctly.
• Perform any maintenance on the leveler, if required.
4. Make sure the leveler is in the maintenance position
and that the safety strut(s) are in place. Remove
any existing under-leveler seals. Existing seals can
interfere with PitMaster II operation.
Adapting for Obstacles
The PitMaster II is designed to be adapted to most site
conditions. These obstacles are adaptable at installation:
• Leveler Under-Structure:
The main curtain is tted with 3 layers of looped fabric
at the base of the curtain. These loops can be trimmed
to seal and t around most leveler under-structures. The
main curtain is also tted with exible HMWPE (High
Molecular Weight Polyethylene) panels to conform to
diering pit conditions.
• Toe Guards:
The width of the main curtain and top section should t
between the toe guards of the leveler. If the PitMaster II
main curtain or top section extends over the toe guards,
trim either component in the eld to t.
In some cases, side seals may need to be trimmed
shorter or installed further into the pit if toe guards are
damaged or bent.
• Conduit or Pipe:
Filler panels can be trimmed to t around conduit
extending out the front of the pit. To accommodate this,
the magnets holding the ller panels to the pit may need
to be moved. If moved, you must re-attach both magnets
so they are level with the pit oor.
• Non-standard Leveler Models:
Review all the instructions included in this document.
Use these as a reference when applying the PitMaster II
Under-leveler seal to a non-standard leveler model.
