Overview

The SALUS RT310i is a smart, programmable thermostat designed for controlling heating and cooling systems, offering both local device control and remote management via a dedicated smartphone app. It operates by sensing the air temperature and switching the heating or cooling system on or off to maintain a user-defined setpoint. The system consists of three main components: the RT310i thermostat, the RXRT510 receiver, and the ITG310 gateway.

Function Description

The RT310i thermostat serves as the user interface and temperature sensor. It displays the current room temperature on an easy-to-read LCD with a blue backlight. Users can adjust the setpoint temperature directly on the device using simple UP/DOWN buttons. The thermostat communicates wirelessly with the RXRT510 receiver via Radio Frequency (RF) signals.

The RXRT510 receiver is responsible for wiring connections and controlling the heat on/off function of the boiler or cooling system. It has two switches: a TOP SWITCH for ON/OFF manual mode (receiver ON/OFF) and a DOWN SWITCH for AUTO/MANUAL mode. In AUTO mode, the receiver operates according to commands from the thermostat. In MANUAL mode, it operates based on the TOP SWITCH setting. Two LED diodes (red and green) on the receiver indicate its status, such as power supply connection, pairing mode, communication status with the thermostat, and whether it's sending a heating signal.

The ITG310 gateway connects the RT310i system to the internet, enabling remote control through the RT310i app on a smartphone. This allows users to manage their heating/cooling system from anywhere.

Usage Features

The RT310i offers a variety of usage features, primarily accessible through the smartphone app, enhancing convenience and energy efficiency:

  • Remote Control via App: The core feature is the ability to control the thermostat remotely using the RT310i app. This includes setting schedules, adjusting temperatures, and monitoring the system status.
  • Programmable Scheduling: Users can create detailed heating/cooling schedules through the app. The system supports 5/2 days (Mon-Fri same, Sat-Sun same), individual day, or all week same programming flexibility, with up to 6 time intervals per day, each with a customizable temperature setpoint.
  • Manual Override:
    • Temporary Override: When in schedule mode, pressing UP or DOWN on the thermostat or adjusting the temperature via the app will temporarily override the current program. This override expires at the next scheduled program change.
    • Permanent Override: In manual mode, adjusting the setpoint on the thermostat or via the app will set a permanent override that remains active until a new schedule mode is selected or a different temperature is set.
  • Frost Protection Mode: This mode automatically sets the temperature to a frost setpoint (default 5°C, adjustable between 5-9°C via app) to prevent pipes from freezing when the heating system is off or the room temperature drops too low. It can be activated/deactivated via the FROST button on the thermostat or through the app.
  • Holiday Mode: Available only through the app, this mode sets the thermostat to run in Frost Protection mode for a defined period (up to 31 days), ideal for when users are away from home.
  • Heat/Cool Mode Selection: Users can switch between heating and cooling modes exclusively through the app. This is crucial for setting temperatures higher (heat mode) or lower (cool mode) than the current room temperature.
  • Geo-Location (Distance Alerts): The app can notify users when they are a certain distance away from home, allowing for proactive adjustments to the heating/cooling system.
  • RF Test Mode: A built-in function to test the connection between the thermostat and the receiver.
  • Intuitive Interface: Both the physical thermostat and the app are designed for user-friendliness, with clear LCD icons and a straightforward app layout.
  • Multiple Thermostats: The app allows for the addition and management of multiple RT310i thermostats under one account.
  • Offline Mode: If internet connection is lost or the thermostat cannot communicate with the gateway/app, it can still operate in offline mode, following the last set schedule, and allowing setpoint changes directly on the device.

Maintenance Features

  • Low Battery Detection: The thermostat continuously monitors battery voltage. A low-battery warning indicator appears on the LCD when batteries are weak, prompting replacement. Users have approximately 30 seconds to replace batteries without losing their settings.
  • Factory Reset: The device can be factory reset by removing the batteries for 2 minutes and then reinserting them without pressing any buttons. This clears all settings.
  • Thermostat Removal from Account: The app provides a function to remove a thermostat from the user's account, which might be necessary for re-registration or transfer.

The RT310i is designed to be a comprehensive and flexible solution for modern home climate control, emphasizing remote accessibility and energy-saving features.
