What to do if the flow rate set point is exceeded on a Samson 2469 Controller?

      Dennis MartinAug 12, 2025
If the flow rate set point is exceeded on your Samson Controller, it could be due to several reasons. First, check for leakage between the seat and plug by removing the regulator, cleaning the seat and plug, and replacing the plug if needed. If the operating diaphragm is defective, replace it. Also, ensure the control line isn't clogged by removing and cleaning it. Finally, if the valve is too large, recalculate the K coefficient and contact VS SAMSON.

If the temperature set point at the sensor is exceeded or not reached on your Samson Controller, it could be due to several factors. Check for leakage between the seat and plug by removing the regulator from the pipeline, cleaning the seat and plug, and replacing the plug if necessary. Also, ensure the sensor is correctly installed, fully immersed in the process medium, and not in a place where idle times or heat accumulation occur. Finally, verify that no safety devices have been triggered and unlock them if necessary.

What to do if the flow rate set point is not reached on a Samson Controller?

If the flow rate set point is not reached on your Samson Controller, first check if the set point range is incorrectly selected and contact SAMSON. Ensure that no safety devices have been triggered and unlock them if necessary. Compare the existing differential pressure across the plant with the plant drag, using the formula: Min. differential pressure = differential pressure • at restriction + (V/K )² VS. Also, check if the strainer is clogged and clean it. Finally, verify that the regulator is installed correctly, with the direction of flow matching the arrow on the valve body.

Why does the control loop oscillate in my Samson Controller?
    • E
      Erika BrownSep 2, 2025
If your Samson Controller's control loop oscillates, it might be because the valve is too large for the control task. Recalculate the K coefficient and contact VS SAMSON. Alternatively, the time constant might be too large for the control loop. In this case, fill the thermowell with conductive paste, remove the thermowell, and use a sensor with a smaller time constant.
