5.6.2 Pressure test
Risk of valve damage due to a sudden pres-
sure increase and resulting high ow veloci-
ties.
− Slowly open the shut-off valves.
The plant operator is responsible for
performing the pressure test. SAMSON's
After-sales Service can support you to plan
and perform a pressure test for your plant.
Pressure test with mounted control
thermostat
During the pressure test, make sure the fol-
lowing conditions are met:
Î Do not allow the pressure to exceed the
1.5 times the pressure rating of the valve
body.
Î Do not apply a pressure higher than the
maximumspeciedpressureratingor
maximum operating pressure to ther-
mowell or sensor of the control thermo-
stat(seeTable3-1inthe'Designand
principle of operation' section).
Î The valve must remain open.
Therefore, adjust the lowest temperature
set point to ensure that the regulator does
not close.
Î Make sure that the pressure rises simulta-
neously upstream and downstream of the
regulator to avoid damaging the balanc-
ing bellows or the balancing diaphragm.
NOTICE
!
Note
Pressure test without mounted control
thermostat
If the valve is not sealed off, the test medium
escapes at the connection where the control
thermostat is connected to the valve. It is not
possible to perform a pressure test on the
valve in this case (see Fig.5-4).
Î Seal off the valve using a coupling nut
(0250-1037) with seal (0340-1962).
