Start-up
6.1 Start-up and putting the
device back into operation
1. Dependingontheeldofapplication,
allow the regulator to cool down or
warm up to reach ambient temperature
before start up.
2. Slowly open the shut-off valves in the
pipeline. Slowly opening these valves
prevents a sudden surge in pressure and
highowvelocitieswhichcandamage
the valve.
3. Checktheregulatortoensureitfunctions
properly.
6.2 Starting up the plant when
vapors and liquids are
controlled
For media that do not reach their boiling
point:
1. Open the shut-off valves slowly over a
time period of several minutes starting
from the upstream pressure side. Fill the
plant with the medium. Afterwards, open
all the valves on the consumer side
(downstream of the regulator).
2. Fill the plant slowly with the process me-
dium. Avoid pressure surges.
3. Make sure that the pressure rises simulta-
neously upstream and downstream of the
regulator to avoid damaging the balanc-
ing bellows or diaphragm.
4. Checktheadjustedtemperaturesetpoint
at the thermometer installed near the
temperature sensor.
6.3 Starting up the plant when
vapors are controlled
For media that reach their boiling point:
Î Completelydrainanddrysteamlinesto
prevent water hammering.
1. Open the shut-off valves slowly starting
from the downstream side to avoid steam
hammering. Afterwards open the shut-off
valves upstream pressure of the regula-
tor.
2. Slowly allow the steam to enter the plant
to ensure that the pipes and valves warm

velocities.
3. Before the full capacity is reached, drain
off the start-up condensate.
4. Make sure that the air contained in the
plant escapes as quickly as possible.
5. Make sure that the pressure rises simulta-
neously upstream and downstream of the
regulator to avoid damaging the balanc-
ing bellows.
6. Avoid pressure surges.
7. Checktheadjustedtemperaturesetpoint
at the thermometer installed near the
temperature sensor.
