This document describes the SATA 03015/03017 Digital Multimeter, a versatile tool for electrical measurements.
Function Description
The SATA 03015 is a 3 3/4-digit auto-ranging digital multimeter, while the 03017 is a 3 5/6-digit auto-ranging digital multimeter with an added temperature measurement function. Both models offer high performance and low current consumption, making them ideal for measuring AC and DC voltage, AC and DC current, resistance, continuity, diode, capacitance, frequency, and duty cycle. The 03017 model specifically includes the capability to measure temperature.
The multimeters feature several useful functions, including relative value measurement, data hold, backlight display, low battery voltage indication, overrange indication, and automatic power-off. They provide a full-function display during operation and comprehensive overload protection across all ranges, ensuring reliable and accurate measurements.

Usage Features
- Panel Introduction: The multimeter features a clear LCD display (1),
RANGE button (2) for manual/auto range switching, Hz % button (3) for frequency/duty cycle mode selection, SELECT button (4) for switching between measurement functions (DC/AC current, diode/continuity, °C/°F temperature), a function/position switch (5) for selecting functions and power on/off, and input jacks: 20A (6), COM (7), and INPUT (8).
- Beeper: A short "beep" confirms valid button presses. Continuous short "beeps" occur about 1 minute before auto power-off, followed by a long "beep" before shutdown.
- Relative Value Measurement: Allows storing a reference value and displaying subsequent measurements as a difference from this reference.
- Manual/Auto Ranging: The
RANGE button switches between auto and manual ranging. In manual mode, it selects different ranges. Holding it for >2 seconds returns to auto-ranging.
- Data Hold: The
HOLD button freezes the current reading on the display, indicated by the "H" symbol. Pressing it again releases the hold.
- Backlight: Holding the
HOLD button for about 2 seconds turns the backlight on/off.
- Measurement Procedures: Detailed instructions are provided for measuring DC/AC voltage, DC/AC current, resistance, continuity, diodes, frequency, duty cycle, capacitance, and temperature (03017).
- Voltage/Current: Always connect the common test lead (
COM) first, then the live test lead. Disconnect in reverse order. Ensure correct input jacks are used for current measurements (e.g., 20A jack for high currents).
- Resistance/Continuity/Diode/Capacitance: Disconnect power to the circuit and fully discharge capacitors before measurement.
- Temperature (03017): Use a Type K thermocouple, connecting the negative plug to
COM and the positive plug to INPUT.
- Auto Power-Off: The meter enters sleep mode after approximately 15 minutes of inactivity. Pressing any button wakes it up. To disable, turn the function switch from
OFF to the desired position while pressing any button.
Maintenance Features
- General Maintenance:
- Do not attempt to repair or service the meter unless you are a qualified professional technician with sufficient calibration, performance testing, and repair instructions.
- Recommended calibration cycle: 12 months.
- Store in a dry environment, free from strong electromagnetic fields, when not in use.
- Clean the casing regularly with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Avoid abrasives or solvents.
- Clean dirty or wet terminals by powering off, removing test leads, shaking out dust, and cleaning the interior of each input terminal with an alcohol-dipped cotton swab.
- Battery and Fuse Replacement:
- Always remove test probes before opening the battery cover or meter casing.
- Battery Replacement: Unscrew the battery cover, open it, replace with a new battery of the same type, ensuring correct polarity. Close and secure the cover. Replace immediately when the low battery symbol appears to prevent inaccurate readings and potential electric shock.
- Fuse Replacement: Remove the sheath and rear cover screws. Gently remove the rear cover. Replace blown fuses with new ones of the specified rating. Reinstall the rear cover and sheath, tightening all screws.
- Fuses Used:
- 03015: 440mA/1000V fast-blow fuse, φ10x38mm, min. breaking current 20,000mA.
- 03017: 630mA/1000V fast-blow fuse, φ10x38mm, min. breaking current 20,000mA.
- Both models: 20A/1000V fast-blow fuse, φ10x38mm, min. breaking current 20,000A.
- Only use specified fuses to prevent damage or injury.
