6 Electrical installation
6.1 Safety
DANGER
H
azard due to electrical voltage
Hazard due to unexpected starting of the machine
b
Make sure that the machine is and remains disconnected from the power supply
during the electrical installation.
b
Make sure that the dangerous state of the machine is and remains switched off
during electrical installation.
b
Make sure that the outputs of the safety switch have no effect on the machine
during electrical installation.
DANGER
Incor
rect safety switch connection
Loss of safety function
b
When using insulation material or stranded connection wires, make sure they
demonstrate the required temperature resistance and mechanical load capability.
b
Use only safe contacts for safety functions.
DANGER
Hazard due to lack of effectiveness of the protective device
The dangerous state may not be stopped in the event of non-compliance.
Application diagnostic outputs must not be used as safety outputs.
b
All e
lectrical connections must be isolated from the mains supply either by safety
transformers (EN 61558-2-6) or equivalent isolation measures.
b
Use protected cable routing to prevent the risk of cross-circuits and short-circuits.
b
All output contacts must have an adequate suppressor circuit for capacitive and
inductive loads.
b
Provide external contact fuse protection for relay outputs, see "Technical data",
page 36.
b
Provide safety outputs (relay outputs) 13/14 and 23/24 with external fuse protec‐
tion (use fuse 6 A gG or miniature circuit-breaker 6 A with characteristic B or C).
6.2 Notes on cULus
For use according to the requirements of UL 508, the following conditions must be met:
The voltage supply must correspond to Class 2 in accordance with UL 508:
°
Galvanically isolated power supply unit with a maximum open-circuit voltage
of 30 V DC and a limited current of max. 8 A
°
Galvanically isolated power supply unit in combination with a fuse in accor‐
dance with UL 248. This fuse should be rated for max. 3.3 A and be inte‐
grated in the 30 V DC voltage section.
Only copper with a temperature resistance of at least 75 °C must be used as the
cable material.
