3 Structure and function
3.1 Description
The Loop isolator (100V) PCA2005-A1 is used in voice-alarm evacuation systems
with a loop topology. The Loop isolator (100V) monitors the speaker line from its
loudspeaker connection to the speaker for short-circuit and open lines. The matrix
monitors the loop for short-circuit, open lines and ground fault.
If a short-circuit occurs on the loudspeaker line, the loop isolators identify the
defective cable segment and disconnect it. The loop concerned is then supplied
with power from two sides. This does not impair the function of the remaining
loudspeakers.

Each Loop isolator (100V) has a built-in cutoff relay. If a short circuit occurs, the
relevant cable segment is disconnected from the rest of the loop. The short-circuit
can either arise between two Loop isolator (100V) or at the loudspeaker connection
of a Loop isolator (100V). The cable segment between two Loop isolator (100V)
and the loudspeaker connection at the Loop isolator (100V) concerned with the
OUT output are always isolated simultaneously (as per Fig. Loop isolator (100V) X)
Properties
● Short circuit isolator according to EN 54-17
● Isolates one or more short circuits in a 100 V loudspeaker loop
● Isolation time of under 4 seconds an alarm condition, under 30 seconds in
normal operation
● If a short circuit occurs, only the cable segment concerned is isolated
● The Loop isolator (100V) monitors the speaker line from its loudspeaker
connection to the speaker for short-circuit and open lines.
● Suitable for 100 V loudspeaker systems
● No noise emissions at the loudspeaker by the Loop isolator (100V)
