Safety Requirements for Installation
The S7-400 automation systems are “open type” equipment according to the
IEC 61131-2 standard and therefore adhere to the EU directive 73/23/EEC
“Low-Voltage Directive” and are UL/CSA certified as such.
To fulfill requirements for safe operation with regard to mechanical stability, flame
retardence, stability, and shock-hazard protection, the following alternative types of
installation are specified:
• Installation in a suitable cabinet
• Installation in a suitable enclosure
• Installation in a suitably equipped, enclosed operating area
