3.2 Assigning Parameters to Signal Modules
Introduction
In this chapter you will learn more about the options available for configuring and
assigning parameters to the modules of SIMATIC S7.
Parameter Assignment with Software
STEP 7 enables you to easily enter all parameters in guided dialogs. For example,
the measurement range for analog modules is set using STEP 7.
The parameters are transferred to the CPU with STEP 7. The CPU then distributes
the parameters to the modules at startup.
Advantages
Parameter assignment using STEP 7 offers you the following advantages:
The modules are easily configured, you can easily change and conveniently
document the parameter assignments.
It is impossible to make incorrect settings when exchanging modules.
Since the parameters and addresses are stored in STEP 7, you can always
copy, document and easily change these settings for a whole series of similar
controllers.
