3.6 Reading out service data
Requirement
To use this function, you must install STEP 7, version 5.3 or higher.
Use Case
In a service situation in which you need to call Customer Support, it is possible that
Customer Support will need special information about the status of a CPU in your system for
diagnostic purposes. This information is stored in the diagnostic buffer and in the actual
service data.
You can read this information with the menu command "PLC > Save Service Data" and save
it in two files. You can then send this to Customer Support.
Note the following:
● Save the service data directly after a CPU changes to STOP mode if possible.
You specify the path and the file name under which the service data are stored are specified
when the information is the read.
Procedure
1. Select the respective CPU with the menu command "SIMATIC Manager > Accessible
Nodes".
2. Select the menu command "PLC > Save Service Data".
A dialog box opens in which you specify the storage location and name of the two files.
3. Save the file.
4. If requested, send the files to Customer Support.
