Remote Connections with Fiber Cable
Fiber optic technology allows for longer cabling than any other media
type. A 100 Mbps multimode fiber connector (MMF) link can run up to 2
km. This allows the TigerSwitch 10/100 to serve as a collapsed
backbone, providing direct connectivity for a widespread LAN. The
100BASE-FX MMF connector can be used to interconnect remote Fast
Ethernet segments. The figure below illustrates a TigerSwitch 10/100
connecting multiple segments with fiber cable.
