Placing into Operation
Scope of supply
The supplied parts are indicated in the Sophos Wireless Security Quick Start
Guide Hardware & Software.
Mounting instructions
All access points can be put on a stable horizontal surface or can be
mounted on the wall. Please take note of the following security hints:
Warnings and precautions
The access point can be operated safely if you observe the following notes
and the notes on the device itself.
General precautions
Review the electrical and general safety precautions that came with the
components you are adding to your access point. Allow the power supply
modules to cool before touching them.
Regulatory requirements
Sophos Access Points may not operate properly if they are not designed
for use in your country of operation. For example, an AP50 with the
supplementary model designation "FCC" (regulatory domain of the U.S.)
cannot be used in Europe. To ensure that the AP50 complies with your
country's regulatory requirements, always select the correct country of
operation.
Sophos AP50 mounting instructions
The Sophos AP50 can be mounted at the wall. Screws are not included in
delivery. Use only screws whose dimensions correspond with the mounting
holes on the back side.
Connection and configuration
How to connect the access point to the internal network is described in the
Sophos Access Points Quick Start Guide.
Power-over-Ethernet injector
(optionally included with AP50)
The PoE injector PD-9001GR/AC converts AC power to 55 V; DC power
is then provided over the Ethernet cable. This PoE injector supports up to
10/100/1000 Mbps pass through data rates. The single port PD-9001GR/AC
can be powered via universal AC input and can provide up to 30 W.
Warning: Do not use cross over cable between the PoE injector
PD-9001GR/AC output port and the Access Point.
