13 Wheelchair requirements
The Hand-Bike can be attached to different types of wheelchairs.
The wheelchair has to be in perfect condition though.
Please do not use faulty wheelchairs with broken or repaired frames.
We suggest the use of wheelchairs with rigid frames, which are more stable than
foldable models.
The brakes of the wheelchair have to be in perfect condition to give an additional
brake possibility.
For maximum braking efficiency we suggest the use of wheelchair wheels with drum
brakes. Those wheels are available for most wheelchairs.
The brake levers for drum brakes can be attached to the handles, so that both hands can
stay at the handles while braking.
Despite the attached Hand-Bike, the wheelchair can be moved forwards and backwards
by pushing the wheelchair wheels.
