14 Servicing
The tyre pressure of the drive wheel I written on the wall of the tyre.
On loose ground and/or up hill driving it is suggested to reduce the pressure to 2 bar (30 PSI)
to increase traction.
Give your Hand-Bike a regular service check to make it really long lasting.
The model City 7 is equipped with a Sachs Super 7 or Shimano Nexus gear hub.
You will find a description of the hubs in the Appendix.
The power transmission is carried out by a tooth belt. Lubrication is not necessary.
The cable of the handbrake needs regular checks, adjusting and lubricating if necessary.
The model Ultra is equipped with a Sachs 3x8 gear system. The hub is also maintenance free.
Clean and lubricate the chain regularly.
Check the rear derailleur regularly and adjust if necessary, to enable a smooth gear change.
Your dealer or a Bike shop can do these checks for you, if you are not familiar with one of the
above described activities.
Descriptions of the different hubs can be found in the appendix.
Servicing of the U-frame
In principle all bolts of the non-moveable parts of the frame have to be tightened firmly (Allen
key 6mm)
The bolts S1L and S1R of the cross bar need to be tightened very firmly to avoid a slipping
movement of the cross tube.
If the Hand-Bike is often attached to different wheelchairs give a little bit of grease on the
thread of the bolts S1L, S1R and S3L, S3R.
If problems show up while using you Hand Bike or if you have further questions, please
contact your dealer or us.
Advice for the usage of the Handbike near the sea (salted air)
While using or storing the Handbike at the sea you have to pay attention on the salted air.
To avoid corrosion at the frame and at the components (motor, brakes, etc.) clean it with sweet
water from salt leftovers.
To this, clean the Handbike with a sponge and warm water to remove salt deposits.
We recommend the cleaning liquid from Sonax called ‘Sonax Fahrradreiniger’. After that
spray frame and screws with ‘Sonax Pflegeöl’.
Attention! Don’t spray the oil on the brake pads, the brake discs as well as on the rubber parts!
Pay attention while cleaning so that no water enters with pressure into the control and the
control element.
