waveform appears when any CO
2
is detected, but:
CO
2
must be >3.5 mmHg to display numeric value
Valid breaths will not be detected unless CO
2
is at
least 8 mmHg
Valid breaths must be detected in order for the no breath
alarm to function and count the respiratory rate (RR)
The RR represents an average over the last 8 breaths
