Foreword
Congratulations on choosing a SUBARU vehicle equipped with EyeSight
TM
.
EyeSight incorporates the latest driver assistance features available from
SUBARU, including such features as Adaptive Cruise Control, a Lead Vehicle Start
Alert and a Lane Departure and Lane Sway Warning, all of which are designed to
assist the driver in making decisions and increase driver comfort and
convenience. Initially, the operation and use of the various EyeSight features may
be unfamiliar to you. That is why we urge you to read this manual carefully before
using EyeSight. We also recommend that you first take the time to test EyeSight in
order to experience its features for yourself so that you can become familiar with
their operation.
Please keep in mind that it is the responsibility of drivers to operate their vehicles
safely at all times. Drivers should always remain alert and should never become
complacent while operating their vehicles because of the presence of EyeSight.
EyeSight is never a substitute for active driver involvement and it may not operate
optimally under all driving conditions.
This booklet is a supplement to the Owner’s Manual for your SUBARU vehicle and
contains a detailed description of EyeSight. It should be read in conjunction with
your Owner’s Manual so that you will gain a thorough understanding of the proper
operation of your vehicle.
The information, specifications and illustrations found in this booklet are those in
effect at the time of printing. SUBARU CORPORATION reserves the right to
change specifications and designs at any time without prior notice and without
incurring any obligation to make the same or similar changes on vehicles
previously sold.
Please keep this booklet together with your Owner’s Manual and leave it in the
vehicle at the time of resale. The next owner will need the information it contains.

How to fix Subaru Forester 2018 Automobile Adaptive Cruise Control when it cannot be set?
    • A
      amysmithAug 16, 2025
If the Adaptive Cruise Control on your Subaru Automobile isn't setting, ensure you've pressed the (CRUISE) switch. Also, check if EyeSight is temporarily stopped; if so, correct the cause and try setting Adaptive Cruise Control again. Make sure the 'READY' indicator is illuminated in the EyeSight display area. Confirm that you are meeting all requirements for setting cruise control. If the Conventional Cruise Control function has turned on, the 'READY' indicator does not illuminate in the EyeSight display area on the combination meter display.

Why is my Subaru Forester 2018 not detecting vehicles in front, or why is detection delayed?
    • R
      Richard BarajasAug 19, 2025
If your Subaru Automobile isn't detecting vehicles in front, or detection is delayed, consider these factors: Detection of stopped vehicles, vehicles moving slowly relative to your vehicle, and vehicles moving extremely slowly may be difficult. Clean a dirty or fogged windshield. The maximum detection distance of EyeSight’s stereo camera is approximately 360 ft (110 m). Detection is not possible if the vehicle is farther away. Check if the vehicle is on a curve, a road with repeated uphill and downhill grades, or a banked road, as this can limit detection. Also, detection may be delayed after the vehicle in front has changed. Finally, consider if water or snow kicked up by the vehicle in front is obstructing detection.

What to do if cruise control is canceled automatically in my Subaru Forester 2018?
    • D
      Diane CookAug 22, 2025
If cruise control in your Subaru Automobile is canceling automatically, consider whether you performed any operation that would cancel it. Also, if the Adaptive Cruise Control function is in use, the EyeSight system may have temporarily stopped.

Why was Lane Keep Assist unexpectedly canceled in my Subaru Automobile?
    • W
      warddeborahAug 26, 2025
If Lane Keep Assist in your Subaru Automobile was unexpectedly canceled, it could be because you took your hands off the steering wheel. If the system cannot detect the steering operation of the driver, it will temporarily cancel Lane Keep Assist. It may also happen if you turned a tight corner, or performed an action that cancels the system.

Why does EyeSight not restart after a temporary stop in my Subaru Automobile?
    • A
      Alejandra MiddletonAug 28, 2025
If EyeSight on your Subaru Automobile doesn't restart after a temporary stop, it could be because the X-mode is turned on. EyeSight cannot be activated when the X-mode is turned on. It may also occur if you are parking in extremely hot or cold conditions. Additionally, driving in rain with poorly performing wipers, an oily film on the windshield, or facing direct sunlight or bright headlights at night can cause EyeSight to temporarily stop operating.

Why is control activated in my Subaru Automobile even though there is no vehicle in front?
    • S
      Susan RoseAug 31, 2025
If control is activated in your Subaru Automobile even when no vehicle is detected in front, it could be due to a vehicle in the neighboring lane. Also, when driving on a curve, braking control may activate in response to guard rails, the angle of the steering wheel, or roadside structures.

Why does the Lead Vehicle Start Alert activate in my Subaru Automobile, even though there is no vehicle in front?
    • M
      Michelle LutzSep 3, 2025
The Lead Vehicle Start Alert in your Subaru Automobile may issue a warning in response to objects other than a vehicle that appear in front of your vehicle, depending on surrounding objects, traffic environment, and weather.

What is the noise when automatic braking control activates in my Subaru Automobile?
    • C
      Christian DouglasSep 6, 2025
The sound you hear in your Subaru Automobile is the sound of the automatic braking control operating. There are some mechanical components to the system, and they do occasionally make audible sounds during automatic braking control. This sound is not a malfunction.
  • B
    Brandy GloverSep 9, 2025
Why is acceleration sometimes slower or faster when the vehicle in front turns off the roadway in my Subaru Forester 2018 Automobile?
    • L
      Leah TranSep 9, 2025
Depending on the timing of when the detection of the vehicle in front is lost, EyeSight’s ability to react may be slower, causing the start of acceleration to feel delayed and braking time to feel longer than what seems to be normal operation in your Subaru Automobile.

Why does Lane Keep Assist not operate even though there are lane markers in my Subaru Forester 2018 Automobile?
    • A
      Andrea JohnsonSep 12, 2025
To operate Lane Keep Assist in your Subaru Automobile, the width of the road should be between approximately 10 ft (3 m) and 15 ft (4.5 m).
