GEARSHIFT LEVER
This vehicle has a 5-speed transmis-
sion which operates as shown in the
illustration. The shift lever is attached
to a ratchet type mechanism in the
transmission. Each time you select a
gear, the gearshift lever will return to
its normal position ready to select the
next gear. Engage first gear by pulling
the clutch lever in then depressing the
lever from the neutral position. You
can shift into higher gears by lifting on
the shift lever once for each gear. The
ratchet mechanism makes it impossi-
ble to upshift or downshift more than
one gear at a time.
LEFT HANDLEBAR
Clutch Lever 1
The clutch lever is used for disengag-
ing the drive to the rear wheels when
starting the engine or shifting trans-
mission gears. Squeezing the lever
disengages the clutch.
Parking Brake Lock 2
Use this lock to set and lock the park-
ing brake. Use the parking brake to
help prevent the ATV from moving
when it is parked, being started, or at
idle. To lock the parking brake, push
the knob 6, squeeze the clutch lever
and engage this lock. To release the
parking brake, squeeze the clutch
lever and release the parking brake
lock 2.
