Pneumatic System
Compressor and Accumulator
The compressor pumps air into the accumulator,
building the pressure in the accumulator to 60 psi
(414 kPa).
Check Valve
The check valve is a “one‐way” valve which allows
the compressor to start under a no load condition.
When the compressor stops operating, the check
valve also allows pressure to exhaust between the
compressor and the valve itself.
Pressure Switch
When air pressure has left the accumulator, the
pressure switch recognizes this and activates the
compressor again. Generally, the platen can be
raised 4-5 times between compressor cycles.
The pressure switch for the three platen grills closes
at 67 psi (462 kPa) and opens at 47 psi (324 kPa).
The pressure switch for the two platen grills closes
at 60 psi (414 kPa) and opens at 35 psi (241 kPa).
Relief Valve
The relief valve ensures that accumulator pressure
does not exceed 70 lbs (483 kPa).
Regulator
Regulates the pressure necessary to hold the upper
platen in the closed position at 35 psi (241 kPa).
Latch Solenoid
When activated, the latch solenoid opens the flow of
air pressure which holds the air cylinder plunger in
the raised position. This plunger keeps the upper
platen in its closed position during the cook time.
Air Cylinder
When cook times elapse, the air cylinder dampens
the opening of the upper platen.
