p roce d ure to remove the chassis-mounte d circuit
b oards
(removal instructions for plug-on boards and
boards requir-
ing
unique removal procedures will be given later) .
The location of the pin connectors
is shown on the
circuit-board
illustrations in the Diagrams section . Correct
orientation of multi-pin
connectors is indicate d b y an arrow
molded into the connector
h ousing ( p in 1) ; α matching
arrow is marked
on
the
circuit b oar d . Be sure these arrows
are aligne d as the multi-pin
connector is replaced .

C HASSIS-MOUNTED BOARDS .
1 . Disconnect all p in connectors or lea d s
connected to
the board or which connect the boar d
to
other
portions of
the instrument .
2 . R emove the securing screws .
3 .
R
emove the board .
4 .
To
re p lace the
b oard, reverse the or d er of removal .
M atch t he arrows on the multi-pin connectors
to the arrows
on the b oard .
Β . PLUG-ON B OARDS .
1 . Remove p lug-in units or slide
out the power unit (as
given p reviously) as necessary
to gain access to boar d s
mounted on the front or rear
respectively of the M ain
Interface
b oard .
2 . Disconnect any coaxial en d -lead or multi-pin con-
nectors
located
on t
he
boar d .
3 . L
oosen all of
the
securing screws on
the
b oar d .
4 . Pull out on t h e edges of the b oar d until th e b oar d
clears th e fee d -t h ru terminals . H ol d t h e b oard p arallel to
t
h e M ain Interface
b oard
u ntil
t
h e
b oard is
free,
so as
not
to
bend t he feed-thru terminals .

5 . To replace α plug-on circuit board, p osition it so the
feed-thru pins
and sockets mate properly .
6 . Gently p
ress
the circuit
b oard against the mounting
surface . Be sure
that all
the fee
d -thru pins and sockets mate
properly .
7 . U niformly tighten the securing screws
.

C . A20-MAIN INTERFACE CIRCUIT B OARD

U se the following proce
d ure to replace the M ain
Interface circuit b oar d :
1 . Disassemble the Display U nit from the Acquisition
Unit (as given previously) .
2 . Sli de out the p ower unit as describe d p reviously .
3 . Remove all of the plug-on
boards
from the M
ain
Interface boar d .
4 . Disconnect
all connectors which
connect
the M ain
Interface
b oard to other p ortions of the Acquisition Unit .
5 . R emove the screws from inside each plug-in com-
partment which hold the p lug-in interface connectors to
the chassis . Also, remove the screws which hol d t he ground
stra p s to the chassis .
6 . Slide the M ain Interface board assembly to the r ear
and remove it through t he top of the Acquisition U nit .
7 .
To replace the
M
ain Interface board assembly, reverse
the order
of
removal . M atch
t
he
arrows on
the p in
connectors to the arrows on the b oar d . Correct location of
the pin connectors is shown in the circuit-board illus-
trations in the Diagrams section .

follows :
1 . Disassemble the Display U nit from the Ac q uisition

2 . L oosen th e
setscrews securing t

e th ree f r ont- p anel
knobs (use 1/16-inch hex-key wrench) . R emove the
knobs .
