What to do if my Telkonet Ecosmart EcoInsight Thermostat controlled HVAC unit does not operate?
    • J
      jessicanguyenAug 1, 2025
If your HVAC unit isn't working, there could be several reasons: * There may be a main electrical failure to the unit. In this case, dispatch maintenance and verify mains continuity to the unit. * The GFI within the HVAC may have tripped. Check and reset the unit's GFI systems. * The EcoInsight might have failed. Replace it with a known-good unit. If the replacement works, contact Telkonet to begin the RMA process. If not, consult an HVAC technician. * A door contact may not be connected. Ensure all door contacts are connected. * A window or outside door might be open. Make sure no monitored windows or patio doors are open.

What to do if the Telkonet Ecosmart EcoInsight displays a service sensor?
    • K
      Kristi BellAug 5, 2025
If a service sensor appears on the thermostat, it means one or more sensors have lost association with the thermostat. You should dispatch maintenance to the room to re-associate all sensors, replace the batteries in all sensors, and evaluate the wiring between each sensor and the thermostat.

Why is my Telkonet Thermostat room too hot or cold when I return?
    • S
      Sheila JohnsonAug 9, 2025
If the room is too hot or too cold upon your return, it's because the EcoSmart system allows the temperature to drift away from your setpoint during an unoccupied period. Wait 8–20 minutes for the temperature to adjust. This is the typical range of defined Recovery Times requested by customers in most installations.

How to resolve Telkonet Thermostat shutting down while I sleep?
    • J
      Jonathan HendricksAug 18, 2025
If the HVAC shuts down while you sleep, the sensor might not be accurately detecting occupancy. Assess the room, sensor placement, and bed locations. Verify that the sensors are deployed according to the Recommended Best Practices. Corrective strategies may include: 1. Moving the sensor. 2. Adding an additional sensor to accommodate the new room layout. 3. Changing the room layout. 4. Adjusting sensor settings (contact Telkonet to discuss options). 5. Adjusting night delay (contact Telkonet support for assistance).

What causes one mode (heating/cooling) to work while the other doesn't on my Telkonet Thermostat?
    • N
      Nathan McknightAug 22, 2025
If one mode (heating/cooling) works but the other does not, the heat pump jumper may be reversed, the changeover signal may be backwards, or the heat/cool jumpers may be reversed. Remove the thermostat from the backplate, find jumper J3, insert the jumper, and replace the thermostat.

How to fix a Telkonet Ecosmart EcoInsight that reboots repeatedly?
    • A
      Ashley VegaAug 27, 2025
If the thermostat reboots repeatedly, it could be that the wiring is coming in from the J8 hole and is placed directly over the J8 pins on its way to the terminal block. Re-route the wiring along the bottom of the backplate until reaching the screw terminals.

What to do if my Telkonet Ecosmart EcoInsight Thermostat room does not achieve setpoint within Recovery Time?
    • S
      sullivanjohnNov 13, 2025
Several factors can prevent a room from reaching the setpoint within the Recovery Time: * The EcoSmart system is designed to recover the temperature within a Comfort Zone. Contact Telkonet Customer Support for assistance. They will research the deployment history and determine if a completed Settings Sheet was provided before thermostat shipment. Professional Services fees may apply if default settings caused the issue and specific preferences were not communicated to Telkonet before device shipment. * The HVAC unit might need servicing. Ensure the PTAC unit is in good working order. Service and correct internal thermostat anomalies per the PTAC manufacturer’s recommendations. * There may be a failed control circuit within the HVAC system. Ensure the PTAC unit is in good working ord...
