MAINTENANCE
WARNING
Before
embarking on any maintenance or cabinet dismounting work, switch cabinet off from
source.
As
a general
rule,
technical specialists should make an annual check that all cabinet components
function
correctly.
6.1. MAINTENANCE TABLE
The frequency determined for each operation, and particularly that for changing filters,
shown on the Maintenance Table below, are for guidance as advised for normal cabinet
service;
very severe work conditions will mean reducing the intervals shown on the Table.
Maintenance Table
OPERATION (JOB)
Regular check and certification according to
Norms.
Pre-filter cleaning
Pre-filter replacement.
Absolute filter replacement
U.V. lamp replacement
PERIOD
At least once a year.
Every 500 working hours.
Every 1000 working hours once a year.
Every 3000 / 4000 working hours.
Every 7000 working hours.
6.2. PERIODIC CONTROL AND CERTIFICATION
International norms recommend certification and control periodically (at least once a year).
The tests to be carried out are the same as those used during the final manufacturing
process and certificates are issued on the results, as per Norms.
At the end of this Manual, there is a table to use to draw up a maintenance history.
6.3. PRE-FILTER
In the air suction of the vertical laminar flow sterile cabinet, there is a pre-filter (Fig.l pos. 2).
Every 500 hours it should be cleaned or vacuum cleaned and every 1,000 hours replaced.
WARNING
Under
no circumstances must the cabinet be started without correctly installed pre-filter, as this
will
cause rapid silting up of the HEPA filter.
6.4. ABSOLUTE FILTERS
The
average life of the HEPA filters is shown on the Maintenance Table (6.1).
After
this
period,
the flow of impelled air decreases due to greater loss of filter load since
filtering
is mechanical; but this does not mean any loss of filtering efficiency.
