CD397-Oper Operation - 2 - 11
June 2019 (Rev C)
Operation Mobile Belt Loader Model 660-28
Section 2 Operation Manual
6. Make final conveyor boom height adjustments at this time by raising or lowering the conveyor to
align with the aircraft door sill.
7. When the conveyor bumper is within 2 - 4 in. (50.8 mm - 101.6 mm) of the aircraft, the YELLOW
lights will turn solid and the transmission will stop forward motion.
8. Leaving the seat while the vehicle is in FWD or REV during Smart Sense operation will result in
the lights turning RED and the transmission stopping the belt loader.
9. To regain movement, move the shifter into the NEUTRAL position, apply the foot brake, and then
shift back into FWD. The lights will turn GREEN or YELLOW and forward motion is resumed.
10. Place the shifter in NEUTRAL.
11. Apply the park brake, and make any final height adjustments.
2.3.5.3LoadingandUnloadingBaggage
With the parking brake set and the operator off the seat, the unit will now function as a standard 660 belt
loader while loading and unloading baggage. The lights will remain illuminated but no movement of the
vehicle will occur while the parking brake is applied.
2.3.5.4DepartingtheAircraft
The following steps are necessary to start movement on a Smart Sense equipped vehicle:
1. Sit in the seat.
2. Start the engine.
3. Apply foot brake.
4. Lower the parking brake.
5. Look for green light on the dash to indicate that it is OK to shift into FWD or REV. If this light is not
activated then either the brake pedal is not depressed or the parking brake is still on.
NOTE:
If optional conveyor up/down inhibit valve is installed then the shifter must be placed into
NEUTRAL before the conveyor can be moved.
NOTE:
If optional conveyor up/down inhibit valve is installed then the conveyor may not be adjust-
able if the conveyor bumper is too close to the aircraft.
CAUTION:
Leaving the seat while the vehicle is in FWD or REV during Smart Sense operation will
result in the lights turning RED and the transmission stopping the belt loader.
NOTE:
At this point, the unit will no longer allow forward movement. REV may be selected in order
to move the unit away from the aircraft but FWD gear selection will not engage FWD move-
ment of the vehicle until the YELLOW lights is far enough away to start flashing again.
NOTE:
If optional conveyor up/down inhibit valve is installed then the conveyor height may not be
adjustable when the YELLOW light is solid. If this occurs, the vehicle must be moved far
enough away from the aircraft for the YELLOW light to begin flashing in order to make
height adjustments.
