Axle Shaft Installation
During installation, it may be necessary to tap axle shafts into
axle tubes using a hammer handle.
1. Install axle shafts, including bearings, inner snap
rings, and oil seals into driver-side and passenger-
side axle tubes. Secure in place with outer snap
rings.

Apply anti-seize compound to axle splines before installing
hubs.
2. Install hub, washer, and outside axle nut on driver-
side and passenger-side axle tube.
3. Tighten outside axle nut to a minimum of 70 lb-ft
(95 N•m). Continue to tighten until nut slots are
aligned with the hole in the axle shaft. Insert and
secure cotter pin.
