Problem:Yourcomputercannotconnecttothenetwork.
Solution:Makesurethat:
Thecableisinstalledcorrectly.
ThenetworkcablemustbesecurelyconnectedbothtotheEthernetconnectorofyourcomputerand
totheRJ45connectorofthehub.Themaximumallowabledistancefromthecomputertohubis
100meters.Ifthecableisconnectedandthedistanceiswithinacceptablelimitsbuttheproblem
persists,tryadifferentcable.
Youareusingthecorrectdevicedriver.
1.OpenControlPanelandclickHardwareandSoundDeviceManager.Ifyouarepromptedfor
anadministratorpasswordorconrmation,typethepasswordorprovideconrmation.
2.Iftheexclamationmark!isdisplayednexttotheadapternameunderNetworkadapters,you
mightnotbeusingthecorrectdriverorthedrivermighthavebeendisabled.Toupdatethedriver,
right-clickthehighlightedadapter.
3.ClickUpdateDriverSoftware,andthenfollowtheinstructionsonthescreen.
Theswitchportandtheadapterhavethesameduplexsetting.
Ifyouconguredtheadapterforfullduplex,makesurethattheswitchportalsoisconguredfor
fullduplex.Settingthewrongduplexmodecandegradeperformance,causedataloss,orresultin

connectionfailsorerrorsoccur.
Solution:
UseCategory5wiringandmakesurethatthenetworkcableissecurelyconnected.
Connecttoa1000BASE-Thub/switch(not1000BASE-X).
Problem:TheWakeonLANfeatureisnotworking.
Solution:
MakesurethatWakeonLANisenabledinThinkPadSetup.
