1.Setapower-onpasswordaswellasaharddiskpasswordforyourinternalsolid-statedriveorharddisk

.Forsecurity,alongerpasswordisrecommended.
2.IfaDiskEncryptionharddiskdriveoraDiskEncryptionsolid-statedriveisinstalledinyourcomputer,
besuretoprotectthecontentsofyourcomputermemoryfromunauthorizedaccessesbyuseofdrive
encryptionsoftware.
3.Beforeyoudisposeof,sell,orhandoveryourcomputer,besuretodeletedatastoredonit.Referto

DiskEncryptionharddiskdriveandEncryptionsolid-statedrive
SomemodelscontaintheDiskEncryptionharddiskdriveorEncryptionsolid-statedrive.Thisfeature
helpstoprotectyourcomputeragainstsecurityattacksonmedia,NANDashordevicecontrollersbyuse
ofahardwareencryptionchip.Fortheefcientuseoftheencryptionfeature,besuretosetaharddisk
passwordfortheinternalstoragedevice.
Noticeondeletingdatafromyourharddiskdriveorsolid-statedrive
Ascomputersspreadintoeverycorneroflife,theyprocessmoreandmoreinformation.Thedataonyour
computer,someofwhichmightbesensitive,isstoredonaharddiskdriveorsolid-statedrive.Beforeyou
disposeof,sell,orhandoveryourcomputer,besuretodeletedatastoredonit.
Handingyourcomputerovertosomeoneelsewithoutdeletingtheloadedsoftware,suchasoperating
systemsandprogramsoftware,mightevenviolatelicenseagreements.Youareadvisedtocheckthe
termsandconditionsofthoselicenseagreements.
Therearemethodsthatseemtodeletethedata:
•Movethedatatotherecyclebin,andthenemptytheRecycleBin.
•Deletethedata.
•Formatyourharddiskdriveorsolid-statedrive,usingthesoftwareforinitializingit.
•UsetherecoveryprogramprovidedbyLenovotobringtheharddiskdriveorsolid-statedrivebackto
thefactorydefaultsettings.
Theseoperations,however,onlychangetheleallocationofthedata;theydonotdeletethedataitself.In
otherwords,thedataretrievalprocessingisdisabledunderanoperatingsystemsuchasWindows.The
