IgnitionSwitch
Theignitionswitchhasthreepositions:Off,On/Preheat,
andStart.
ThrottleLever
Thethrottlelevercontrolsthespeedoftheengine.Moving
thethrottleleverforwardtowardtheFastpositionincreases
theenginespeed.MovingitrearwardtowardtheSlow
positiondecreasestheenginespeed.Thethrottle,in
conjunctionwithmotioncontrollevers,controlsground
speedofthemachine.Alwaysrunthemachinewiththe
throttleintheFastpositionwhenusingattachments.
PowerTakeOff(PTO)Switch
Thepowertakeoff(PTO)switchstartsandstopspowered
attachments.
HourMeter
Thehourmeterrecordsthenumberofhourstheengine
hasoperated.ItoperateswhenthekeyswitchisintheRun
position.Usethesetimesforschedulingregularmaintenance.
GlowPlugLight(OrangeLight)
Theglowplugindicatorlightturnsonwhentheignition
switchisturnedtotheOnposition.Itremainslitfor6
seconds.Whenthelightturnsoff,theengineisreadytobe
started.
EngineCoolantTemperatureWarning
Light
Thislightglowsandthepoweredattachmentswillstopif
theenginecoolanttemperatureishigh.Buttheenginewill
continuetorun.Ifthemachineisnotstoppedandthe
coolanttemperaturerisesanother20°F,theenginewillstop.
Important:Iftheattachmentshutsdownandthe
temperaturewarninglightison,pushPTOknobdown,
drivetoasafeatarea,movethethrottlelevertothe
Slowposition,movethemotioncontrolleversintothe
neutrallockedposition,andengagetheparkingbrake.
Allowtheenginetoidleforseveralminuteswhileitcools
toasafelevel.Stoptheengineandcheckthecooling
system;refertoCheckingtheCoolingSysteminCooling
SystemMaintenance.
ChargeIndicator
Illuminateswhenthesystemchargingcircuitmalfunctions.
OilPressureWarningLight
Theoilpressurewarninglightglowswhentheoilpressurein
theenginedropsbelowasafelevel.Iflowoilpressureever
occurs,stoptheengineanddeterminethecause.Repairthe
damagebeforestartingtheengineagain.
FuelGauge
Thefuelgauge(Figure39)indicatesthequantityoffuel
remaininginthefueltanks.
