Checktheconditionandtensionofthecuttingunitdrivebelts
initiallyafter10hoursofoperationandevery50operating
hoursthereafter.
Whenproperlytensioned,theextensionspring(hookto
hook)measurementshouldbeapproximately8.9cm±.63
cm(3.50±.25inch)(inside).Oncethecorrectspringtension
isattained,adjustthestopbolt(carriagebolt)untilthere
isapproximately.32cm±.152/.000cm(.125+.060/-.000
inch)clearancebetweentheheadoftheboltandtheidler
arm(Figure70).
Note:Makesurethebeltispositionedonthespringside
ofthebeltguide(Figure70).

Thebladedrivebelt,tensionedbythespringloadedidler
pulley,isverydurable.However,aftermanyhoursofuse,
thebeltwillshowsignsofwear.Signsofawornbeltare:
squealingwhenbeltisrotating,bladesslippingwhencutting
grass,frayededges,burnmarksandcracks.Replacethebeltif
anyoftheseconditionsareevident.
1.Lowerthecuttingunittotheshopoor.Removethe
beltcoversfromthetopofthecuttingunitandsetthe
coversaside.
2.Loosentheeyeboltallowingtheremovalofthe
extensionspring(
Figure70).
3.Loosentheangenutsecuringthestopbolttothe
mountingtab.Backoffthenutenoughtoallowthe
idlerarmtopassbythestopbolt(Figure70).Movethe
idlerpulleyawayfromthebelttoreleasebelttension.
Note:Ifthestopboltiseverremovedfromthe
mountingtab,makesureitisreinstalledintheholethat
alignsthestopboltheadwiththeidlerarm.
4.Removetheboltssecuringthehydraulicmotortothe
cuttingunit(Figure71).Liftthemotoroffofthe
cuttingunitandlayitontopofthecuttingunit.

5.Removetheoldbeltfromaroundthespindlepulleys
andidlerpulley.
6.Routethenewbeltaroundthespindlepulleysandidler
pulleyassembly.
7.Positionthehydraulicmotoronthecuttingunitafter
routingthebeltaroundthepulleys.Mountthemotor
tothecuttingunitwiththeboltspreviouslyremoved.

sideofthebeltguide(
Figure70).
8.Reconnecttheextensionspring(Figure70)totheeye
boltandtensionthebeltasfollows:
Whenproperlytensioned,theextension
spring(hooktohook)measurementshouldbe
