Checkthebeltsforcracks,frayededges,burnmarks,orany
otherdamage.Replacedamagedbelts.
ReplacingtheMowerBelt
Squealingwhenthebeltisrotating,bladesslippingwhen
cuttinggrass,frayedbeltedges,burnmarks,andcracksare
signsofawornmowerbelt.Replacethemowerbeltifanyof
theseconditionsareevident.
1.Loosenthebottomtwoboltsholdingthemower-deck
curtaintothemowerdeck.RefertoReleasingthe
Mower-DeckCurtain(page33).
2.Parkthemachineonalevelsurfaceanddisengagethe
blade-controlswitch.
3.Movethemotion-controlleversoutwardtothepark
position,stoptheengine,removethekey,andwaitfor
allmovingpartstostopbeforeleavingtheoperating
position.
4.Settheheight-of-cutatthelowestcuttingpositionof
38mm(1-1/2inches).
5.Usingaspring-removaltool(Toropartno.92-5771),
removetheidlerspringfromthedeckhooktoremove
tensionontheidlerpulley,androllthebeltoffofthe
pulleys(Figure69andFigure70).
WARNING
Thespringisundertensionwheninstalled
andcancausepersonalinjury.
