What to do if my Toro CM engine does not start?
    • R
      Ronald AndersonJul 27, 2025
If your Toro Construction Equipment engine doesn't start, several factors could be at play. First, ensure the engine switch on the cowl is in the RUN position and the fuel valve is in the ON position. If starting a cold engine, close the choke; if it's a hot engine, open the choke. Check that the On/Off switch on the engine is in the ON position and the engine oil level is adequate. Also, verify the fuel tank isn't empty and the spark-plug wire is securely connected. The spark plug should be properly gapped and not fouled. If the spark plug is wet with fuel, dry it before reinstalling, and start the engine with the throttle in the MAX position. Lastly, old or bad fuel can be a culprit, so drain the tank and carburetor and refill with fresh fuel.

Why does my Toro Construction Equipment engine run rough?
    • J
      Johnny OchoaAug 1, 2025
A rough-running Toro Construction Equipment engine can stem from several causes. Check if the choke is left on and open it. The air filter might be clogged, so clean or replace it. A clogged fuel line could also be the issue; clean the sediment cup. Ensure there's no water or contaminants in the fuel by draining and refilling with fresh fuel. Inspect the spark plug for wear or buildup, checking the electrode gap or replacing the plug if necessary. Finally, too much oil in the engine crankcase can cause problems, so drain it to the proper level.
